“Home away from home”
Travelled as a couple - July 2014
We stayed at Barberry Hill for two nights in The Shed. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. Very welcoming hosts who had the fire going after we arrived later than intended on a night of wet and wild weather. It was like old times to have fierce weather one day and stunning blue skies the next. No matter the weather, it was so cozy we didn't want to leave! Superb breakfast provisions including delicious homemade bread. The surrounding countryside is so lovely, such a treat to come back to the town where I grew up.

“Most wonderful cosy accommodation!”
travelled with friends - January 2014
We stayed at Barberry Hill in Jan of this year and we're definitely planning to go back. Marg and Peter are such wonderful hosts, the accommodation very comfortable and the area so interesting. We loved being introduced to The friendly cows and the whole Dolly's Milk enterprise. Marg and Peter are so passionate about what they're doing and it was great seeing them at work in the milking shed. We loved the flavour of the raw milk and were very happy to buy some to take home for ourselves and our family.
The views of Mt Taranaki from this farm are stunning. We certainly recommend this B&B.

A beautifully relaxing place at which to stay. A working farm nestled in a picturesque countryside with the best view of Mt Taranaki which was snow capped during our stay. Margaret and Peter are genial hosts that make sure guests are spoiled with fresh tasty food for breakfast and comfortable accommodation decorated in the most exquisite taste. Every convenience that travelers need is provided; Margaret and Peter left nothing out - they obviously enjoy what they do.
We were set up in The Barn which was without question the most classy B&B in which we have stayed. The Barn was delightfully spacious, the beds really comfortable and bedding and towels soft and of high quality. Margaret had the fire laid for us and had provided full condiments so all we had to do for dinner was to buy the food, there was no need to purchase oils, dressings, salt, pepper etc - all was provided. Magazines, DVD's, soaps and shampoos were all at hand as were extra blankets. There were also laundry facilities.
For a zooologist and a veterinary nurse it was a perfect stay. Coco the cat was a sheer delight and the herd of human - friendly cattle were great to hang out with. New Plymouth was close at hand as were the various activities surrounding the mountain. In short "Absolutely awesome!

“Great Place To Relax In”
Travelled as a couple - February 2013
Peter & Marg were very welcoming & great hosts. We stayed in The Shed for 3 days, which was clean, comfortable, spacious & modern. We loved the décor and the outdoor balcony. Bountiful provisions for breakfast were left for us and the offer to pick vegetables from the garden outside our door was an added bonus. Bread freshly baked every day and delivered by Peter was a real treat. A walk around the farm at dusk was spectacular as was the sunsets looking at Mt Taranaki. All in all a most enjoyable and relaxing stay. Next year if we return to NZ we will try The Barn at Barberry Hill .

Exactly what we wanted - arriving late at night because of a delayed flight we were greeted by Marg and Peter, our friendly hosts. We were shown to our loft accommodation which was inviting, warm and country styled with plenty of space. Good sustaining breakfasts were provided and we were left to our own devices to settle in. The next morning saw us awaking to a working farm within a short drive of a rural township. Great walks, quiet, outstanding mountain views and lots of country air. Just the place for a short break! If city attractions appeal, New Plymouth is only 40 minutes drive away. Thanks Marg and Peter for a lovely stay on your beautiful farm.
